Your Questions About Gonal-f Injections

Maria asks…

bleeding cyst, should i be worried? x?

my partner and i are trying for a baby and are having artificial insemination (i.u.i) i have been having gonal f injections to prepare for my 3rd and final i.u.i. and went in today for my transvaginal scan and they said i only had 1 small folicle on 1 ovary and on the other ovary there was 1 folicle but there was a cyst on it that was bleeding into the folicle so basically we had to abandon the i.u.i. for this month. the nurse didnt seem to concerned she just said when i get my next period go in for another scan to see if the cyst had gone. does this sound right? i have always responded well to the other rounds of gonal f. thankyou x

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Most women get cysts. I get them ,i have for years and im 17. I have the same “bleeding” cysts as you. They will go away, usually within a cycle or 3 weeks. Don’t worry, if they were dangerous your doctor would remove them. They are so normal, but most don’t pick up on them and think they are just cramps.

Michael asks…

Would my GP write a NHS prescription if I am prescribed medication privately?

I am seeing a consultant privately regarding fertility issues. Next cycle he has prescribed me Gonal F injections. I have found out that for the private prescription online it is around £320 or £350 if I buy at the chemist.

I was thinking of asking my NHS doctor if he would give me an NHS prescription for the drug. It would obviously be a lot cheaper at £7.20! As he personally has not prescribed me this, would he issue an NHS prescription?
I am not having IVF. I suffer from PCOS and the Gonal F is to help stimulate ovulation.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Try clicking on to the NHS website. I don’t think your GP would give you it, but you can only ask a, he/she can only say no.

Donna asks…

how soon can you get pregnancy symptoms after an i.u.i.?

had an i.u.i. on day 9 of my cycle, today is day 14. today is the day i would usually ovulate but i was on gonal f injections and when i went for scan on day 8 they said i had responded do well they were doing the i.u.i. the next day. i ahve been having niggles in my tummt practically since the i.u.i. and weird sort of sharp pains too (similar too having an injection) and now i have low back pain which would be normal for ovulation but i know i ovulated earlier on in my cycle this month? is it possible i am ovulating today? any advice would be great thank x

Pregnancy Tips answers:

It is possible that you are ovulating now only but the earliest you will get a positive after an iui is when your next period is due or after. Symptoms can start earlier but dont get your hopes up cos if it doesnt work, it will be very disappointing for you. Just keep neutral.

Jenny asks…

*Possible Reasons we cant get preg –Unexplained infertility*?

Me and my hubby have been trying for 2 years to get pregnant w/ no luck. Weve already spent over $20,000 on treatments, ie: Artificial insemination, clomid, gonal f injections, etc. Nothing was successful. Dr’s say they dont know why, and call it unexplained infertililty. We are so stressed and just wish there was a reason to make everything easier on us. Maybe it would have been easier to treat if we knew the known cause. I just dnt undertstand how they dont know. What do you think are possible reasons when its “unexplained infertility”? Thanks~!
Thanks guys. We have tried everything!! I even keep my legs elevated in the air for an hr to 2 hrs literally and have intercourse on the right days! I have also tried preseed a few times, still nothing! child. I think we will wait 2 more months and move to ivf if no luck!

Pregnancy Tips answers:

It’s unexplained because there are no reasons… Or none that can be defined and diagnosed by a doctor.

I had that too… But just magically got pregnant eventually. Try to relax… That never helps the situation.

Laura asks…

Can you give some encouraging words?

Well my period came today. So I didn’t have implantation bleeding a week ago. I am ok though. I see our nurse on Thursday for an ultrasound to see if I can start my 3rd cycle of Gonal F injections. I should start them on Saturday. I have taken the last 3 cycles off from treatments. Hubby and I are so hoping 3rd time is a charm because our RE said he would like to try us on this treatment plan this last time (which he is very optimistic about) and then it is on to IVF which we don’t want to do. We are hoping God is leading us on what we need to do during this time.

Please share your ttc stories or some encouraging words with us.

Thanks and best wishes to those that are trying and those that have succeeded!!!
We have been ttc since July 2006. So we are so ready for this to happen!

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I am so sorry to hear ugly AF showed up. Can’t she just go on vacation for 9 months? Can we ship her off to the north pole? Can’t we lock her in the closet and throw away the key??!!! Lol :) I read your answer to a question that was posted yesterday, and was hoping AF was going to be MIA for you. I’m still praying for you, and praying this 3rd cycle is your lucky one. Everything happens for a reason, and most of the time, we will never know the reason. You are a very strong person, and very admirable. Things are going to fall into place, they always do. You keep your faith and continue to stay positive. Your blessing is right around the corner. Hardships make us stronger.

AF is 4 days late, and I’m still getting negatives. My monitor said I ovulated, and it’s never been wrong. My LP has always been 12 days, and now it’s on day 16. I was hoping to see my BFP by now. I don’t know what’s wrong, if the monitor gave me a false reading, if I have a cyst? Who knows, but it’s starting to get me down!!! I’m hoping to be the oddball that takes a while for an hpt to show positive, but I’m beginning to wonder if it’s something else. Why oh why does this happen to us?! Like I said, I bet we’ll never know the reason.

My heart is with you and your husband, and you’ll be in my prayers. Never give up. It’s going to happen, because I said so!! You hang in there, and here’s all the luck and baby dust in the world for you :)

Daniel asks…

LH surge on Cycle Day 21, when should I take a pregnancy test?

I have PCOS and have not had a normal period in years, other than when I am on birth control, so I dont know how long my cycles are. I was on gonal f injections, getting prepared for an IUI, but my cycle was canceled due to the over production of follicles. My doctor told me that my husband and I could try on our own with out the trigger shot, on the off chance that we might conceive naturally. I got a positive lh surge on cd 21, when would be a good day to take a pregnancy test if I have not started my period? I am on cd 36 today. thanks!

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Today could be just a good of a day as any. If you got your surge on CD21 and you are on CD36, that is a difference of 16 days so if it happened you should be able to find out today for sure. Good luck hope you get a BFP.

Nancy asks…

Took ovidrel by accident!!! Is this going to increase my chances of pregnancy?

Just as it sounds? I went to take a shot of depo and injected myself with ovidrel fertilty meds instead. One dose on day 3 of my cycle. Will this medicine increase my chances of getting pregnant? I took the depo shot right after, but am concerned. Ovidrel is supposed to be taken to release your egg and mature there before the realese?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

What are you doing having such drugs at your fingertips and mixing them up when injecting yourself? That is very dangerous activity……. Leave it to the professionals.

As for what you’ve just done, you should be asking your doctor.

Carol asks…

Has anyone gotten pregnant on a ‘break cycle’?

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the past 21 months. We completed our first round of IUI with gonal f and ovidrel – it was a BFN. Now, because of the fertility meds, I have 2 cysts on my ovaries(1 on each side) and we’re officially on a break, waiting for them to go away.
Has anyone out there, who’s tried for this long, and tried an IUI – gotten pregnant on a break month?
Just looking for some inspiration – tell me your stories
Thanks everyone!

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I wish I could say I did. But I did get pg on second IUI cycle after the break. I was on the pill during the break and it made big diffrence for me (much better response).

Maria asks…

All those that got preg with pcos and metformin!?

I have very irregular periods..I go months without sometimes. Anyways my doctor thinks I might have PCOS and Might put me on meformin on my next dr visit.

My question..
Has anyone gotten pregnant off metformin alone? without the help of clomid or other fertility drugs?
If so how long did it take? And how long were you trying before that.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I have PCOS and was on Metformin for 2 years, didn’t get pregnant.

Later the doctors added clomid. I took 5 rounds of clomid and a shot of Ovidrel, and that did it in the end.

It took about 3 years for me to conceive.

Donna asks…

I had sex on thursday night took ovidrel on friday did not have sex on sat or sun I had sex on mon any chance?

that i can get pregnant or is it too late?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

There is chance you can conceive from Thursday night, but Monday will probably be too late, it would have been best to have had sex thurs, fri, and sat.

Susan asks…

How long did you TTC for before you got pregnant?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

We started 11 months before I got pregnant, but we were “lucky.” I had issues with my period not being regular and was tested and referred to an IVF clinic within four months of trying. Of course those tests were also lengthy.

Technically, I was on Clomid and Ovidrel for two months before I got pregnant. So I guess you could say we were only “trying” for two months since everything before that was automatically going to be fruitless.

Betty asks…

how many cycles of follistim or ovidrel did it take for you to get pregnant?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I took Clomid to get pregnant. My husband and I had tried for almost two years and had not had any luck. I was on Clomid for 4 months and got pregnant. I know its really hard, but be patient. I know its crushing every time you start your period when you want to be pregnant so bad. Don’t give up and make sure you and your husband/boyfriend communicate. This can be a very very trying time for both of you. It takes the fun out of sex and turns it into a job. So take time out for yourself and for your relationship or it wont work.

Ruth asks…

Is this a pregnancy sign or just normal?

My question is under my arm near the armpit area & close to the breast has been hurting like it’s sore or it feels like there is alot of milk that won’t all come out.. I am breastfeeding my 1 year old still but this has never happened to me before it been hurting for 2 now… Is this normal while breastfeeding a 1 year old or could it be a sign of pregnancy? Thank you:)

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Its not pregnancy, its a clogged milk duct and you are so lucky if you have not gotten them before! I have found that either placing a cabbage leaf on the clogged duct or taking a warm shower and gently massaging the area seems to help the best with alleviating the pain. You can take ibuprofen as well.

Mary asks…

Has anyone felt like this while breastfeeding?

I have an 8 month old baby girl and exclusively breastfeed and for the pass few days I have been going crazy because it seems like I smell everything like 100x stronger than normal like when I was pregnant it’s terrible! They just hit me so hard out of nowhere! I woke up this morning all of a sudden smelling something like oil or gasoline and my hubby was working on the car yesterday so it could be a rag or his clothes he’s left around but the smell hit me like crazy and I got so nauseous I had to get up. Now I don’t think pregnancy is a possibility as we use protection every time we are intimate and there hasn’t been any accidents and because I don’t feel fatigue or have sore breast or any of the other pregnancy signs like I had when I was pregnant b4 just the strong aversions to smells. I guess it’s always an option though however so I guess I can test if my period doesn’t come in a week like it’s suppose to but I really don’t feel like that’s the case. So I guess I want to know if anyone has had this problem breastfeeding?? Thanks.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Your sense of smells are very sensitive,This happens usually when you are first pregnant or when the hormone that helps make up the breast milk becomes active, This is all but a gland in your brain that is helping your body to produce mother’s milk and has your smell gland sensitive, It’s very normal and it lets you know that you are doing everything right.

Jenny asks…

weird things while breastfeeding.?

My little one was born over 10 months ago, and she is still b/f 3 or 4 times a day. my periods haven’t returned except about 2 months ago I had a kind of brownish period that was only a little bit, that lasted 2 days, then nothing since. pregnancy tests negative, but ive got alot of pregnancy signs. the doc seems to think it has something to do with me drinking coffee which ive never had issues before.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

After my first baby was born, I had two periods before and two periods after I weaned at 16 months. Then I got pregnant again. After second baby was born, I had lots of post partum bleeding—a week on, then off, then on, then off, sort of thing. Then no period but emotionally felt like I was getting a period every month for several months, and then I ended up pregnant after I weaned at 16 months, still with no bleeding. So many pregnancy signs are hormones out of whack, that when it’s just your hormones out of whack, you can’t tell the difference. I’d give it some more time. And if further HPT turn up negative but you’re really concerned, you can ask for an ultrasound to see inside. :)

Paul asks…

What does pink discharge mean while breastfeeding a 9 month old?

I am breastfeeding my 9 month old and still have not gotten a period. I’ve been having signs of pregnancy like, nausea, slight cramping, etc. but only intermittently and I have taken tests and they are all negative. Yesterday I had some very light pink among clear discharge (sorry tmi) and I have no idea why. I don’t know if it’s implantation bleeding, but if it is wouldn’t the test already be positive if I’m pregnant? Also, with my son I had no implantation bleeding so I’m not familiar with it, really. Does anyone have any clues? I’m tired of playing this guessing game. Thanks!

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Possibly its your period trying to regulate itself

John asks…

Could I be pregnant exclusively breastfeeding?

I know that there is a slight chance of becoming pregnant while breastfeeding but with all the hormones I thought the chances were pretty slim. We have been using protection but I have all of a sudden been feeling the same way I did at the beginning of my last pregnancy. Any other signs that may let me know if I am pregnant as my menstrual cycle has not resumed yet?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

If you’re using protection, it’s probably unlikely. Breastfeeding delays the return of normal ovulation compared to women who don’t breastfeed, but your cycle can still start up again before you wean your baby off your breast. About 6-8 months post-partum is average for for a breastfeeding woman’s cycle to start back up again, but it can happen earlier or later. I started cycling about 4 months post-partum.

I had a similar experience to you (though I had gotten a period once already) where I started feeling “pregnancy” symptoms. But it turned out to be a false alarm. Probably what you are feeling is just due to breastfeeding hormones and stress, like my symptoms were.

But the only way to figure it out is to take a test. Almost any symptom you feel could be due to the hormones you’d expect to find surging through a breastfeeding mother’s system. If the symptoms keep up more than a couple of weeks, I’d suggest seeing your doctor to discuss the matter. Even if you had started menstruating already, it’s really tough to figure out if your period is really late, since it can be quite irregular when it starts back up. My cycles varied between 35 and 55 days while I nursed.

Mark asks…

am I pregnant while breastfeeding?

I am a new mom breastfeeding a 8 months old. I’m wondering if this sign is a sign of pregnancy. I got sick to my stomach and puked then I felt fine. Hours later I get the same feeling then it goes away. Is it the sign? The problem is.. I haven’t had a single period since before I got pregnant with my first baby.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

It’s possible that you are pregnant. After 6 months breastfeeding alone becomes much less reliable as birth control. So, especially if you aren’t using contraception, you could certainly be pregnant.

All you can do is test. You might be pregnant, or you might have a touch of food poisoning or a tummy bug.

Susan asks…

heres the deal..my sister had a set of twins at 25 weeks pregnant. We recently found out she was pregnant agin

She had the twins in 2003..she tried to get pregnant for so long…then it finally happened…we were all so very excited. We went to a scheduled ultrasound for sizes and dates..they found the baby didnt have a heartbeat. The dr. told her just to come home and wait to pass the baby. i hate seeing my sis like this. what can i do to make her feel better? and is it healthy to walk around with a dead baby inside u..her next appt is the 31st, thats like 2 weeks. i dont know if i should take her to the er or what? any advice would be greatly appreciated. also, does anyone know at how many weeks a fetal heartbeat can be detected on US? she was 8 1/2 weeks pregnant when we found out the baby was dead. the did a transabdominal US and a transvaginal US. could they be wrong? does any one know how long it takes for a miscarriage? i really hope so..she wants a baby so bad…and with what happened with the twins and now this baby…i dont think she can handle much more….thanks for any comments
they did an internal and external US..and couldnt see the babys heart beat? should u be able to see it at 8 1/2 weeks?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I am so sorry.
You can see the heartbeat usually at 6 weeks. No heartbeat at 8 and half weeks will result in a miscarriage. She has some options.
She can elect to wait it out and have a “natural miscarriage” at home. This can take weeks to start. It can also be quite physically painful. But it is “natural” and preferred by many.
She could also elect to have a DNC – basically this is about the same as an abortion procedure. This allows for an easier physical recovery, no carrying of the dead baby for an extended period, and testing can be done on the fetus to look for the reason for the m/c.

Both options have risks, and often those who miscarry naturally have to have a DNC anyway to expel tissue that didn’t go naturally.

(I personally opted for a DNC – and got chromosomal info about my lost baby boy, and it was over.)
For you sister – avoid saying things like “it’s for the best” or”it’s G-d’s will” or any other platitudes that this is somehow a good thing. Just listen, and let her know you care. And in a week, or 2 weeks, when her other friends will have moved on from her time of need, she will still be in pain and grieving. Be there for her.

GL. My best wishes to your sister.

So we have been trying for 3 years and like last time within a blink if a eye a was pregnant. WITH TWINS. I lost them at 10 weeks. In july2007? I had to do a dnc and my doctor noticed a large mass 10cm in my ovaer and 3 days later I had to have a laparoscopic. A few months laters we try again. No luck. Well in july of 2008 I had to go to the ER for lower pains. I had another cyst 12cm. When and did another Laparoscpic. So now we still can’t get pregnant. I have bought those test that tell you the best time of the month to conceive. but in those months I use that test I have my period 2 weeks apart.
I know this may sound crazy but I think some must if happen in my surgery to where I am not able to hold a child in myuteruss. I don’t know can someone please help me. Any Idea?Thoughtss? or if this has happen to you? Please help thank you.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

It is called secondary infertility. To me it sounds like you might have pcos. When we get pregnant, the pregnancy kind of resets our bodies and quite often it leads to secondary infertility which means after having a child/children you get struck with infertility. I would highly recommend going to an RE or just start out with your OB! Good luck!

Michael asks…

What are the chances I will get pregnant with twins?

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant but it is just not happening. He has 6 children from a prev marriage and I have 1 (all well taken care of)! He had a set of twins but one passed away as a baby. I am guessing the doc will prob put me on some sort of med to help me ovulate since I am sure this is the problem.

So what are the chances of having twins again (for him)?

I am going to the doc next week and will ask this question but I was just wondering what you guys think.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Any twins he may have had don’t matter. You are the one who will either ovulate 2 eggs or they one will split on it’s own. A man’s sperm doesn’t have the ability to split an egg or cause you to ovulate more than one. However, if you’re on meds to make you ovulate you do have a higher chance of ovulating multiple eggs depending on how strong the meds are and how well you take to them. I was on clomid 3 times. The first 2 I was on 50 & 100 mg and I only ovulated 1 egg. The last time I was on 150 and ovulated 2. We did iui’s with the clomid and it didn’t work. We moved on to ivf and used injectable meds and I was able to produce 14 eggs once and 18 eggs another time. If you do take injectables you have a much higher chance because they are stronger.

Donna asks…

What is with people saying you are more likely to get pregnant with twins while breastfeeding?

I keep reading it on here. I have never heard that before. Is it true? Can anyone give me a reason or some documented proof? I am breastfeeding my 23 month old son and trying to get pregnant. I got pregnant with him while breastfeeding my daughter (she was 6 months at the time). While I was pregnant with him and nursing her I heard lots of people’s opinions about nursing during pregnancy, but never the thing about conceiving twins.
I thought it was dumb too. As far as I know breastfeeding suppresses ovulation, not the opposite.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Breastfeeding has nothing to do with twinning. If you have twins in your family your odds increase but that is the only reason that you would be more likely to have twins.

Helen asks…

How to conceive fast! Naturally! I am trying on my ovulation days and no luck for a year! Twins would be nice!

I have been trying for a year now after my son was born. It took me 2 years to get prego with him. My husband is going to Iraq for 18 months to war and we both would love to get pregnant before he goes. I’m 29 now and I don’t know if I want to try getting pregnant when I’m 32. Who knows how long it would take. He’s leaving in September of this year and we have been trying everything! Any foods, tea, vitamins? I heard about African Yams but I can’t find them. Im in Pa. I always wanted twins but I know thats more about genetics and luck! Please help!

Ok, i am 13 weeks 3 days pregnant, this is my first pregnancy… for the past 3 weeks i have had a pulling feeling in my lower abdomen, none of my pants fit, im showing already… i have gained 5lbs so far… my belly has been firm for the past 2 weeks… my belly button is half way out already! i wasnt small to begin with… people are already saying to me “WOW YOUR STARTING TO SHOW” its rounder and firm… is this too early? im positive of my last period, we were trying to get pregnant.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I showed SUPER early with my twin boys. And my family and doctor kept saying that it was just a big baby! YEA RIGHT! It was twins, and i knew it early on! Go with your instincts, they may not always be right, but at least you won’t be shocked if it ends up being twins.

Your Questions About Follistim

Susan asks…

huge Cyst after IUI and Follistim?

Hi,
I am so disappointed.I did an IUI with follistim last cycle. My periods came 2 days before my scheduled day for blood pregnancy test.I had to start a new cycle with follistim and iui but unfortunately i got to know i have a huge cyct measuring 44 mm when i went for CD 3 sonogram and i would not be able to continue iui+follistim this cycle.
My RE told me to have desogen(birth control pill) this cycle. She told me that would help the cyst to shrink.Have you ever heard of having birth control pill to shrink cyst?
I really don’t want to have birth control pills as i have heard the cyct will disappear on it own.Pls advice.
P.S.I never had any cyst before so it happened because of follistim.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Hey

Yes the BC does shrink the cysts! I had no idea i had pcos until after 2/3 months after i stopped taking the bc pills. The doctor later also explained to me how bc bills help pcos. YOu should google it to find the detail.

I had gotten pregnant right after leaving my bc pills .. But because doctor or myself didn’t know about the pcos .. I miscarried at 9 weeks.. After my d&c the doctor found out about my pcos (scan) i started bc again for three months and also was on glucophage, now when i got my scan i had no cysts.. So i stopped the bc pill and am just on glucophage (metformin)

Trust your doctor. The readers here all haven’t been through what we hae so they don’t know what they are talking about. Do as your Doctor says. If you need any help you can email me :)

Good luck hun!

Ken asks…

Does anyone know the statistics/chances of getting pregnant with Fostimon? I have PCOS?

My Dr. wants to give me Fostimon 75 IU for 10 days (approx. he will monitor me closely through the process). But I was wondering if anyone knows the statistics for this med. I’m wondering what the chances of it actually working are, and also what the chances of having multiples are? Thanks for your help1

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I didn’t use fostimon but I used follistim which I believe is similar (did some online searching and found that follistim is what is usually given in US and Fostimon in UK. Don’t know if that applies here or not.
I can tell you that using follistim (which if I am understanding correctly does the same basic thins as fostimon) you have a good chance of concieving on PCOS. I have it and I did. I also got pregnant with twins but chance of multiples depends on your response and the lvls doc allows. If you really don’t want mulitiples your doc will probably keep you on a lower lvl of the meds. Will take longer to get pregnant. If multiples are not an issue that is also something to tell your doc. More eggs equal more chances of conception (most docs won’t allow more then about 3 though in case all fertalize unless you have already discussed reduction).

Betty asks…

about the medicine name of FOLISTIM 50?

i looking forward to be a pregnant and doctor given me above tablet

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Follistim contains follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), a naturally occurring hormone. FSH is important in the development of follicles (eggs) produced by the ovaries.

Follistim is used to stimulate a follicle to develop and mature. It is used when a woman desires pregnancy and her ovaries can produce a follicle but hormonal stimulation is not sufficient to make the follicle mature. Follistim is also used to stimulate the development of multiple eggs for in vitro fertilization.

Treatment with Follistim increases the likelihood of multiple births. Multiple births carry additional risk both for the mother and for fetuses. Discuss the risk of multiple births with your healthcare provider.

Mark asks…

Anyone ever tried Menopur injections to conceive?

any luck or reactions to it?? Is it more effective than the oral meds, because none of them worked for me (Chlomid like meds).

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I did Follistim and Menopur injections for my IVF cycles. I did conceive on IVF #2 but unfortunately it was ectopic and I lost it. My RE started me on those meds because of my FSH level and he felt that they would be much stronger than oral meds. I responded very well the the meds and made lots of eggs. I’ve met several women who tried oral meds and didn’t conceive until they started injections. I never had any side effects to Menopur but have heard that some women do experience them. I was able to resume normal activities. I did feel some bloating (It makes your ovaries huge) and had to keep my pants unbuttoned or wear loose clothing. The only bad thing about the Menopur (and this was just my response) is that it burned a little while going in, just for a minute. I had to have my husband do the injection or it would have taken my all evening! I’m due to start cycle #3 and will continue with the Menopur because I’ve responded to well to it.

I’ve joined a forum called Fertile Thoughts http://www3.fertilethoughts.com/forums/index.php where women can ask and answer questions. I have really gotten a lot of help and information there! Check it out. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!!!

Richard asks…

Can someone let me see their chart that ended in a pregnancy?

This is my first month charting and have no clue what to look for. I am still waiting on ovulation this month. My temps have been 97.5-98.00 so far for 11 days. Does that sound right? Thanks!

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Go onto fertilityfriend.com and there is a link to see other people’s charts. You can search by those who got pregnant (among many other things) and see a ton of people’s charts. Your temps seem fine. Good luck!

Laura asks…

triphasic chart and pregnancy question?

Has anyone ever gotten pregnant without having a triphasic chart? If you don’t chart at the same time everyday and your temperature fluctuates, does that have an affect on actual ovulation or does it just make it harder for you to pin point the day that you ovulate? One more question, my bbt has been 97.00-97.97 degrees this whole cycle (not temping at the same time everyday) does this mean it was an anovulatory cycle? SORRY. this is my first time bbt’ng

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Many pregnant charts are not triphasic, so it’s totally possible. If you don’t chart at the same time every day and your temp fluctuates, this will not affect ovulation. It only affects the ease with which ovulation can be detected. If your temps are very variable, it could be that you ovulated and just wasn’t able to detect it because you weren’t taking it at the same time. My first time charting, my temps were also very variable. The more you get used to doing it the better (less fluctuating) it gets.

Hang in there! Good luck and lots of baby dust!!!

Daniel asks…

I want to chart my temps for pregnany & ovulation, NEED HELP PLEASE?

I got a digital thermometer
do i put the thermometer in the front of the mouth or at the back?
do i sit up in bed or lay down?
what should the temps be for pregnancy and ovulation
i never done this before

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Put it under your tongue. Keep the thermometer with arm’s reach so you don’t have to move a lot to get it in the morning- do it lying down cos sitting up is movement.

Temperatures vary between woman. However they will become higher AFTER ovulation (it doesn’t show you when you’re ovulating, only afterwards) due to the progesterone. If you’re pregnant the temps remain higher cos the progesterone continues to be produced- if you’re not pregnant then the temperature will drop the day before or the day of your period as progesterone levels fall.

I suggest joining (free) http://www.fertilityfriend.com and use this to help plot your temperatures. They also have loads of information about what they show and how to take them.

Ruth asks…

could my chart show pregnancy? ?

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/21fd40

could my chart show pregnancy? my temp never really went up. i am not late for period yet. but i noticed one day of egg white CM and there was a drop in temp was that implantation or did i just not ovulate this month. this is the first month i have charted i am new to all this. i am very confused i had a couple days of fertile cm but my temp never went high. now i saw one day of egg white and thought that might actually be my ovulation but it stiopped so now i have kida sticky but sort of creamy and i have been sleeping like crazy i have actually turged down sex cause i am so tired

Pregnancy Tips answers:

This looks like an anovulatory chart to me.

Joseph asks…

When did you test and get a positive?

I was looking through pregnancy charts on fertilityfriend’s website and I notices that several got positive pregnancy tests at 9 days past ovulation and a few were even as early at 8 dpo. I was just wondering if any of you have got a positive hpt that early? I am now 5 dpo and my temp spiked higher even more so today and I normally do not ovulate so I am very excited. However, I will probably wait until I miss my period to test. Just wondering what your experiences were.

Here is my chart if you want to look

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/honeyb1

Thanks for all your advice, opinions and prayers. Best of luck to all those ttc!

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I really hope that you are pregnant. I know you have been trying for some time. I am 13 dpo and don’t have a positive yet. It could be that my symptoms are me thinking I am. I hope we both are. Baby dust to you and send it back. LOL. Keep me posted. I have been praying for you and everything. I have seen you on here answering a lot of questions and I know you have waited long enough. Good Luck

Betty asks…

If my temperature has only risen to 98.06 Farenheit max post-ovulation does that mean I cant be pregnant?

I am on fertility friend and I have only just started charting, I am not sure when I ovulated but I have taken 5 temps every morning so far which I know for a fact they are post-ov temps (just not sure WHEN I ovulated).
On the 1st and 2nd of feb my temp was 97.52 farenheit, on the 3rd feb my temp was 98.06 farenheit, on the 4th feb it went back down to 97.52 farenheit, and today it went down to 97.32 farenheit.

Does this mean since my temp is so low and is in the low 97s I cannot be pregnant? I’ve looked at most pregnancy charts and most of their temps are in the 98s and 99s.

I have been having cramps which got worse last night (was awake most of the night) since the 2nd feb, I’ve been extremely tired recently and falling asleep in the late afternoon/early evening (I never ever fall asleep), I got up twice to go to the toilet last night which I never have to do, I have been having bad headaches since the 3rd/4th, overnight last night when I went to bed I’ve developed a bad cold, and I feel really hot but I haven’t got a fever.
My period is not due until between the 9th-11th Feb, but I noticed I started having slight cramps as early as the 2nd Feb which is unusual for me.

This is my chart, it’s not very good since I’ve only just started charting LOL!.
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/35b548/

Pregnancy Tips answers:

You can still be pregnant without your temperature raising.

The charting and etc can only be done with a pinch of salt and needs to be done a couple of cycles to work out your usual pattern.

Take a test on your due date. It’s the only way to really tell

Ken asks…

Husband cheated on me, got another girl pregnant… Is divorce the best choice?

My husband and I have been together for 7 years. When we were 18 (or been together for 1 year) he cheated on me. He confessed and told me that he felt horrible about it. I believed him and I loved him a lot, so I decided to get over that and hoped it would never happen again. We’ve been married for 2 years now and I’m 29 weeks pregnant with our first baby, and I thought that we were very happy together, but a week ago he told me that he got another girl pregnant. I was obviously furious, but he told me that the girl wasn’t going to let him go easily (I assumed as much) and wanted financial help. At this point I’m so pissed I can’t even think about the other girl and the baby, and before we even discuss what we want to do with our relationship, he starts telling me he wants to use our JOINT BANK ACCOUNT to pay for the girl‘s hospital bills and everything… I told him he was f*cking crazy and I wasn’t going to pay for anything of hers. I told him that I wanted him to move out and he turned it around on me, saying he only slept with her because I made him “insecure”, but that he loved me and wanted me to forgive him. This is the second freaking time this has happened, and now we have an unborn daughter we need to think about.

At this point I’m debating on whether or not I want a divorce. I know this is obviously a personal decision and I can’t rely on other people to make it for me, but.. I don’t know, although he has put me through a lot of sh*t, I know that he’s the father of our baby and I don’t want our child to be raised with seperated parents. At the same time though, I don’t know if he’ll really stop (didn’t stop before, don’t know if that will change now). The fact he wants me to PAY for this other kid of his is what drives me over the edge, like I need to pay for his mistakes, too. I do love him, but now I don’t know if he loves me enough to quit making stupid decisions. I feel so stupid for letting this happen, so I don’t know if MY love is enough to keep us together anymore.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

This is how they came up with the say, “Once a cheater, always a cheater!” It’s bad enough that he cheated on you not once, but twice (that you know about), but then he has the nerve to blamed YOU for what HE did.

Don’t let love and the fact that you’re pregnant, blind you to what’s going on here. First thing you do is protect your self and your baby financially. Without saying a word to your husband, immediately remove all the money from your joint bank account and put it in another bank in your name only. Have your bank statements sent to a post office box or to a trusted relative’s house, so he can’t get a hold of them.

Your husband is responsible for supporting this illegitimate child, but it’s not your problem and you and your child shouldn’t have to suffer, because your husband can’t keep his pants zipped.

No one can tell you to stay or leave your husband. But you have to realize that if your husband truly loved you, he would never have cheated on you. He’s selfish and only thinks of him self. If you stay with him, you will have to accept that he will cheat on you again and his illegitimate child will be apart of your life. He will go to this woman’s house to visit the child, take money out of your joint account to support the child and eventually the child will start having week-end visits at your house.

Ask your self, do you love this man so much that you’re willing to deal with this? You don’t want to raise your child in a home with divorced parents, but do you really want to raise your daughter to believe that she must put up with a man cheating on her. That she doesn’t deserve to be treated with respect and have a husband who will be faithful to her?

Sharon asks…

My best friends little girl is out of control, how do i handle it?

My best friend got pregnant with a beautiful little girl when she was 17. Her little girl is 3 yrs old now. dont get me wrong I love that little girl, I really do. But sometimes,on weekends I almost dread going out with my best friend when she takes her. She has learned that to get what she wants, (no matter what that may be) she has to cry or scream, and it almost never fails, shes even started throwin & hitting. Im 10 wks preg. now and I think my nerves are a little on edge. I havent said anything to her, I dont want to upset her but I just dont know what to do. My wedding was last weekend and she screamed (very loudly) through part of it. And now my friend and I are going to start walking together, she will most def. take her w/ us. But we never get very far. Shes not always that bad, just most of the time. I dont know if theres anything I can do about this or not just wondering what other people would do, or if maybe I am letting it get to me too much since im pregnant. Any advice?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

It is likely that your nerves are extra sensitive since you are pregnant. I was very emotional in the beginning of my pregnancy. I was never moody before I got pregnant but WOW did I get a taste of what it was like. My husband is very greatful that I am back to myself. If your friends daughter is doing things to bother you I would tell her daughter….look thats not nice to act like that and I wont come see you anymore if you keep throwing a fit. Explain to her that you are pregnant and that there is a little baby inside your tummy that hates it whenever she screams and gets mad and cries in your tummy!! Depending on how much of a brat she is this may work to some degree. Make little comments to her when she is out of line about what she is doing wrong and that it makes you sad whenever she acts that way and that she needs to act like a big girl. Tell her mother to stand by you whenever you are sideline scolding her daughter and maybe both of you can work together to get this little girl back to being that little angel that you both wanted whenever her lil momma had her!! Good luck and hang in there!

Sandy asks…

what are the best ways of having a sexual intercourse, without getting a girl pregnant?

i just want to know the best tips of having a sexual intercourse with a girl, without getting the girl pregnant. i want to know the tips for guys and girls. like what are the best types of condoms? should the girl use birth control? give me any information that you have. anything will help.

oh is it true if a man masturbates before having sexual intercourse this will not make the girl pregnant?

please tell me everything that you know. i am very curious and when my time comes for my 1st time i just want to be safe from everything.

thank you.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Using two forms of birth control. Condoms and her getting on some form of prescription birth control. Lifestyles(condoms) is a good brand. Keep them in a safe place such as a drawer of your night stand. Keeping them in your wallet isn’t a good idea. Make sure they aren’t expired. Check for holes, rips.

And no,even if you masturbate before having sex. You can certainly still get a girl pregnant.

Charles asks…

Dating a girl who is pregnant/has a child by my best friend, should I try it?

She and I get along very well. We’ve been friends since middle school and we’re in our 20′s now. Her and I have always had a bond but it was more of the best friend/she’s my sister bond because she was dating my best friend. Well he really did do her wrong. He cheated on her with numerous other women and then when she found out she was pregnant by him,he left her(he also has two other kids on the way so three at one time from three different women). I didn’t know my ‘friend’ was that much of a a**hole,if I had known I would’ve tried to help her out before things got this bad.

I guess the feelings I was trying to…ignore just came out completely. She came to me when he broke up with her and I comforted her and things from there just got super complicated(in my mind anyway). I REALLY do want to be with her but I don’t know about dealing with my ‘friend’ and him being the father of the child. I know if I do get with her…let’s just say he’s one of those people who doesn’t want a girl but when somebody else gets her he makes their life a living hell. And there’s no way of telling him he can’t come around because that’s his baby. But at the same time,I know he’s not going to be a good father and influence(he has 2 kids already here plus three on the way and hasn’t seen the two in about 6 months—see my point?) and I’d be a better one, plus I want to take care of his ex also, she deserves better.

Should I try it? Should I wait until the child is older? What do you think?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Well, casually talk to him about her if he wants a future with her or if he is done. The way you talk makes it seems he is a womanizer and is done or he wouldn’t have cheated and ditched her. Ask him if he has a problem with you getting closer to her. Since he’s your friend, its better you say something than surprise him and put him in defensive. Maybe he’ll be upset anyways but at least you went about it the right way, no sneaking around. Even if he says no, you can say you care a lot about her and want to be there for her, but in the end, its her choice to go. Wish him luck and move on.

I don’t think she wants to go back to him so since you really dig her, go for it.
Yes, immature & selfish men sometimes throw something away and only want it when someone else wants it, but that shouldn’t stop you. If he gets out of hand, file harassment charges or get a restraining order. He can’t be that bad if he was a good friend of yours, besides the cheating on his gf etc?

You have a lot of fear/reservations, some is natural, and some is just speculation. Live for now but just take things slow and cautiously. I don’t think you need to wait years for the child to get older.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Just be there for her. If you were her best friend but you love her now then you are in a perfect position to help her. She needs someone to help her out in making a decision. Do not try to force anything on her tho what she decides will ultimately be here choice. If you love her like you say you do then stay with her and be her support no matter what

Your Questions About Femoral Vein

Susan asks…

What is the largest size catheter that can be inserted into typical human femoral veins?

French size or mm outer diameter

Pregnancy Tips answers:

“French” units are just mm in circumfrence… This is interchangeable with diameter.

The issue with femoral cannulation isn’t “what is the largest cannula that you can insert”, the question should be what size is needed, and how big the patient is.

Cardiopulmonary bypass can be performed from the femoral artery and vein using 8mm diameter cannulas in adults. The entire flow to the body can be routed through this.

Introducer sheaths for angiographic catheters and instruments can be 10 fr., and introducer sheaths for things like Swan Ganz catheters can be up to the 9 fr. Range.

For fluid infusion, high volume high rate optimization requires the shortest fattest tubing available. The MAC catheter which doubles for Swan Ganz introduction has the best flow at 9 french. There are larger tools available but these are for dialysis and have 2 large lumens, neither of which are as big as the MAC. The overall size of these large dual lumen dialysis catheters is in the 14 fr. Range.

The question isn’t “what is the largest size”… Because you can cannulate with whatever will fit. The question is what size do you need, and why.

Maria asks…

diagram of the artery vein and nerve in the groin needed?

I have looked everywhere for a diagram of the nerve, artery and femoral vein in the groin and how to inject safely into the vein every where for my studys but carnt find one,if anyone knows a link i would be very greatful.
thankyou

Pregnancy Tips answers:

The vein is always medial to the artery in the groin. The nerve is lateral to the artery.
A simple way to remember this is to use the pneumonic NAVEL –
going from lateral to medial (outside to inside) it is

Nerve
Artery
VEin
Lymphatics

Just palpate the artery and keeping your finger on the femoral pulse, inject or draw blood just medially into/from the vein

Laura asks…

Cardiovascular System-Medial Vein of the leg?

Can anyone name the medial vein of the leg that spans from the medial malleolus to the femoral vein just inferior to the inguinal ligament?

Carol asks…

What is the path blood circulates through the body?

I need to know the exact step that blood travels through the body. I know how blood circulates through the heart but I am confused where it goes after that. More precisely I need to know what comes after each of the vessel listed below.

Common carotid artery
Internal jugular vein
Subclavian vein
Renal vein
Femoral vein
Common iliac vein
Brachial artery
Subclavian artery
Cardiac vein
Brachiocephalic vein
Brachiocephalic artery
Axillary artery

Pregnancy Tips answers:

CCA gives off Internal C. A. & External C.A. (lots of branches from both)
Internal Jugular Vein drains to (–>) Subclavian Vein
Subclavian Vein –> Superior Vena Cava
Renal Vein –> Inferior Vena Cava (IVC)
Femoral Vein —> External iliac Vein
Common Iliac Vein –> IVC
Brachial art. Gives off radial art & ulnar art.
Subclavian artery–> Axillary art
There are several cardiac veins and they drain into the coronary sinus and into the heart.
Brachiocephalic vein—> Superior vena cava
Brachiocephalic art–> Subclavian art & common carotid
Axillary art –>lots of branches but it continues as brachial art.

Blood goes: Heart, Aorta, Big Arteries, Arteries, Arterioles, Capillaries, Venules, Veins, Big Veins, Vena Cava and back to the heart.

Donna asks…

Provide the name of the missing vein…?

1. Right subclavian, —-, superior vena cava
2. Anterior tibial vein,—, femoral vein
3. Internal iliac vein,—, inferior vena cava
4. Radial vein,—, axillary vein
5. Great saphenous vein,—, external iliac vein
6. Lungs,—, left atrium
7. Kidney,—, inferior vena cava

Pregnancy Tips answers:

1. Brachiocephalic vein
2. Popliteal vein
3. Common iliac vein
4. Brachial vein
5. Femoral vein
6. Left pulmonary vein
7. Renal vein

Lizzie asks…

Whats the main deep vein of the leg?

So confused :S
Its such a simple question but I cant find the answer anywhere. Looked in my Atlas and Anatomy book, but they just emphasize on the arteries, ignoring the veins -.-

What I dont understand is, when the femoral vein extends into the popliteal fossa, it becomes the popliteal vein right?

After that what does it become lower down in the leg?
Is it the Posterior Tibial vein? (because of the accompanying artery?)

So far, I understand there are only two main veins in the lower limb. which are:
1. Superficial- Saphenous and its tributaries
2. Deep- femoral and its tributaries

now are there any other veins besides these?

Thanks

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Common femoral vein in groin divides into saphenous (superficial vein) and superficial femoral vein (which is actually deeper than saphenous). SFV will then continue down the thigh into the back of the knee where the name become popliteal. Popliteal then becomes anterior tibial veins, posterior tibial veins, peroneal veins.

Your Questions About Pregnyl

Michael asks…

Ovulation after the pill?

How long did it take you to ovulate after coming off the pill? I came off the pill in November after a year and I am still not ovulating. Is there anything I can do to get my eggs going?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

May b u need to see the reproductive endocrinologist, she can perform some tests and may be can find out the reason why u r not ovulating. Sometimes we need to take a jump start.. Like
Clomiphene citrate (Clomid) stimulates the release of hormones that trigger ovulation. Clomiphene is typically the first choice of treatment for unexplained lack of ovulation because of its ease of use-it’s taken orally rather than injected, doesn’t usually cause severe side effects, and doesn’t usually require daily monitoring.
If clomiphene does not work, your doctor might try hormone shots. These shots, called gonadotropins. Include Pregnyl, Pergonal, Gonal F, and rFSH. They directly stimulate the ovaries to produce mature eggs.
If you have polycystic ovary syndrome, your doctor may try a medication called metformin in combination with clomiphene. It can help correct insulin resistance and elevated male hormone levels, often starting egg production and regular menstrual cycles.
But 1st u need to know the actual reason behind not ovulating.
Best Of Luck:)

Charles asks…

you cant get a false positive can you??

so i took the test last night and found out that i was pregnant… and i’ve heard of getting a negative and it being wrong… but you cant get a false positive can you?

just wondering… needed to ease my mind…

Pregnancy Tips answers:

What Affects the Test

Reasons you may not be able to have the test or why the results may not be helpful include:

Taking the test very early in your pregnancy. HCG may not be found. In this case, the test kit may show that you are not pregnant when you really are pregnant. This is called a false-negative result.

If you have drunk a lot of fluid, your urine may be diluted and this may also cause a false-negative result.

Having soap in the urine collection cup. This may cause the test results to show that you are pregnant when you are not pregnant. This is called a false-positive result.

False-positive results may also be caused by reading the test at the wrong time, letting the test equipment get warm, having protein or blood in the urine, or having hCG hormone in the urine from some other cause.

Taking certain medicines, such as chlorpromazine hydrochloride (Thorazine) and methadone hydrochloride (Dolophine, Methadose).

Taking fertility medicines that contain human chorionic gonadotropin, such as Profasi or Pregnyl.

Not reading the result at the right time as shown on the instructions. If you read the result too early or too late, the color change may not be accurate and you will need to retest.

Steven asks…

does progyluton help to get pregnant?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Since progyluton works in a way that is similar to the pill without serving as an actual contraceptive, it may be given to women with PCOS who are trying to conceive. In other words, the drug will lessen the symptoms of PCOS by regulating the menstrual cycle and though it won’t help you ovulate, it won’t cause a complete nullification of your fertility since, unlike the Pill, progyluton does not inhibit ovulation.

Some doctors will prescribe other drugs for specific times during your cycle, such as Clomid or Pregnyl once menstrual cycles are under control with progyluton, if you wish to conceive.

what are the regular stages of iui treatment?is it b painful?

Maria asks…

Starting Clomid on day 6?

I have irregular periods. My Dr. put me on Clomid. I started taking Clomid a day late. I started on day 6. Will this hurt my chances of ovulating? Also will Clomid make my cycle regular?
Thanks for your help!
~Esme

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I am a sufferer of PCOS. I also have irregular periods or miss them all together. My first line of attack was Metformin- which seemed to bring on regular periods, however did not ovuate. I was then put on clomid, but take it from day 2- 6. I am ovualating with the clomid, but am also being given the pregnyl shot the help trigger the egg to release. Your best way of knowing if you have ovulated is get blood tests done.

Donna asks…

Fertility Pills?

I’m 24 years old and i’m ready to have a baby. Me and my husband have been trying for about a year and a half now but we get nothing. I recently thought i could’ve been but the pregnancy tests say differently. We’re now wanting to try fertility pills, which ones do you guys recommend.
I know that i have to consult with my doctor first but i would just like to know what has worked best for some other people. Thanks

Pregnancy Tips answers:

According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, about 25 percent of infertility cases are due to problems with ovulation. Therefore, ovulation-inducing fertility drugs are often chosen as a first course of treatment. Fertility drugs that induce ovulation include:

• Heparin – An anticoagulant that thins the blood to prevent clotting. Chosen for women who have a hard time carrying a pregnancy to term.
• Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) – A hormone that increases the number of eggs released each month, thereby increasing the chances of becoming pregnant. Brand names include Profasi and Pregnyl. Often chosen for women suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome, irregular periods and anovulation.
• Human Menopausal Gonadotropins (hMG) – A combination of luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone that triggers ovulation. Often chosen for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome or endometriosis.
• Recombinant FSH – Chosen for women suffering from amenorrhea, polycystic ovarian syndrome, irregular menstruation, or anovulation.
• Urofollitropin – A purified form of follicle stimulating hormone. Chosen for women suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome, anovulation, high levels of luteinizing hormone or low levels of FSH.

What is the right sleeping position if your pregnant?

Before i can sleep any position, but last not it makes me feel uncomfortable..! I can’t sleep left and right, i feel that my stomach is getting hard and pain..! I try to sleep with my back but i cant sleep good with that..! Something wrong with this?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

I am a belly sleeper and the whole time I was pregnant (with twins) I tried every position. They tell you to sleep on your side. I found if I had enough pillows I could still sleep on my stomach for a while at least. I put pillows under my hips and my breast that way you create a gap for your stomach. I saw a pillow with a belly cut out in it after I had my kids. Look around. I also used my boppy pillow.

Ken asks…

What are effective positions to get pregnant?

me and my husband has been trying to have a baby for about 5 months but i cant get pregnant! we’ve tried many positions, and some of them that people have recommended have been very uncomfortable and not very sastisfactory.
does anyone know some great positions in sex to get pregnant and have an enjoyable time!?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Actually being comfortable, having no worries, relaxing and just having fun increases your chances.

Anyways, from behind (because it goes in deeper) and man on top (less chance of coming back out) is the best positions.

Also, when your done try putting a pillow under your butt and laying there 30 minutes to an hour (watch a movie together and just have fun spending time together afterwards) and that helps the sperm from coming back out.

You can also try ovulation test & take them every other day after your period. And the best time to have sex is about 2 weeks after your period (but everyone is a little different)

Try having sex every other day to let the sperm build back up and be strong and so you don’t miss the 3 days out of the month where you ovulate.

You can also go to the doctor and get checked out and ask about fertility medicines. Clomid is popular and usually taken days 3-7 of your period and it helps you ovulate. It’s also not expensive (50mg is about $10 for 5 pills and $100 was $15 I think)

Hope this helps and good luck :)

Nancy asks…

How can pregnant wife avoid alcohol during the holidays without suspicion?

My wife and I just found out we’re pregnant yesterday with our 2nd child. Our families keep a close eye on my wife’s drinking habits, and whenever she doesn’t drink at a family get together, they assume she’s pregnant. It’s way too early for us to be telling people. Any tips to make it through the holidays without letting everyone find out we’re pregnant? Everyone knows my wife does not refuse alcohol when she’s not pregnant.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Im in the same position as your wife, i drink vodka and 7 so i just remove the vodka. Oh oh it just came to me. They sell non alcoholic wine, just tell everyone you got it for a gift and bring a few bottles ( change or buy new labels if need be) and drink away. Happy holidays.

What should I tell my pregnant girlfriend in my letters while I am in marines bootcamp?

What does a girlfriend or a pregnant girlfriend like to hear from a boyfriend who is at bootcamp? She gets sad and lonely without me and I just want to keep her happy. Ladies, any advice would be great.

Pregnancy Tips answers:

That’s really thoughtful of you. She is going to want to hear that you’re doing well- if you’re not, then don’t be too honest about the tough stuff you’re going through. Ask her how she’s feeling, tell her about how excited you are about her and the baby. If I were in her position, I’d love for you to bring up memories from our past together- like you could say, “Remember our first date when I…” and vividly talk about your memories and how happy she makes you feel and always gush about how much you love her and how you can’t wait to see her again.
You can also spray some of your cologne so she can smell you- that’s a huge comfort for girls to be able to smell our guy. Thanks so much for serving and I hope you get home to see her soon.

How important is your sleep position during pregnancy when you are only in your first trimester?

I am only 10 weeks pregnant and I often end up sleeping on my back and right side. Does it really matter now?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

Your sleep position is actually a non-problem unless you are sleeping on a hard surface or if there is reason to believe there is a problem with the baby (particularly placenta not working right). Some doctors will recommend the special sleep position if you have multiples as well, but it’s not really an issue for some time.

Sharon asks…

When you make a whelping box for your pregnant dog, will she automatically use it?

My german shepherd is pregnant and I am going to build a whelping box for her. Will she automatically use it or do I need to do something to get her interested in it? Any tips?

Pregnancy Tips answers:

If it is going to be positioned somwhere different from where her bed usually is, you should take away her bed at about 6-7 weeks into the pregnancy and put the blankets from her bed into the whelping box to encourage her to acceot it as a comfortable, safe place in which to nest.

At about 8 1/2 weeks, remove her blankets, line it with newspaper, and give her some vet bed or a new blanket to lay on just incase she goes in to labour.

Good luck with the new puppies!
